Silk for the Feed Dogs
My debut novel drew upon my decade’s experience as a designer in the international fashion industry to bring to life the assorted grand maestros, sycophants, oddballs, and jesters that populate protagonist Kat’s life. The menacing sounding “feed dogs” are the metal teeth of the sewing machine that feed the fabric through. Need I say more?
“Better than ‘The Devil wears Prada’!”
I was invited to participate in the Franco-Irish Literary Festival to discuss the links between fiction and fashion. Any chance to mention Miss Havisham and I’ll take it!

“I re-read Peter Mayle’s ‘A Year in Provence’ recently and he has that ability to make one feel really there in the location, or with the person he is painting with words. Jackie Mallon has the same ability, it made for compelling reading.”
