Since graduating from London’s Central St Martins with a Masters in Womenswear, NYC-based Jackie Mallon has worked in the fashion industry, first as a designer in Milan with Giorgio Armani and Moschino, then in the US as a writer, educator and illustrator.

The luxury industry helped hone Jackie’s artistic skills and exposed her to the transporting effect of an illustration. Jackie loves to sprinkle that runway magic through her watercolor sketches of guests at live events before sending them on their way to shop, browse, or sip bubbly. A lifestyle illustrator she’s equally content creating an editorial image of a just-released luxury cosmetics line, capturing the charm of a bunch of tulips, or penning a personalized note in her contemporary calligraphy style.

Combining a former designer’s eye for detail with an obsession for line and an appreciation of a dynamic ink wash, she aims for a synergy of speed, style and storytelling. In the words of Oscar Wilde, “Spontaneity is a meticulously prepared art,” and Jackie works primarily by hand so as not to second guess herself. Although adept at digital sketching, Jackie believes a hand-drawn image aligns with industry efforts to slow fashion down and be conscious of the human behind the creation. Her idea of fast fashion involves a brush, bottle of ink and a live model in an intriguing outfit holding a 3-minute pose.
