I choose Hans Christian Andersen over Christian Louboutin. Red shoes over red soles.
Andersen was inspired to write the tale of The Red Shoes by an incident he remembered from childhood. A wealthy lady had sent his father a length of red silk to make her daughter some dancing shoes. Andersen’s father added leather to the silk and crafted a fine pair of shoes.
However upon seeing the shoes, the wealthy lady grew angry and accused him of spoiling her silk. Andersen’s father replied: “In that case, I may as well spoil my leather too.” He hacked the red dancing shoes to pieces in front of her.
